Why Environmental Science?
The environmental science minor provides a comprehensive understanding and critical examination of environmental issues from an interdisciplinary viewpoint. It includes teachings in diverse outdoor settings and involves students in scientific research using biological, chemical, and ecological coursework, along with field experiences. Students gain not only a solid grasp of basic principles but also an understanding of the ethical and worldview implications of applying environmental knowledge.
Montreat College’s environmental science program is distinctively different, integrating a liberal arts education with a Christ-centered worldview. Students gain an understanding of the ethical and worldview implications of applying environmental knowledge, facilitated by small, intimate classes that foster discussion and personalized attention. Situated in the ecologically diverse Southern Appalachian Mountains, Montreat College offers an ideal setting for experiential learning and a lifelong adventure in environmental science.
